A crucial part of the name change process for newly naturalised citizens is registering your birth certificate in The Netherlands. The request for a name change is basically a request to change your birth name and, therefore, your birth certificate. 

Dutch birth certificate

Every name change results in an amendment of your birth certificate. The birth certificate is the source document for the Dutch public register (BRP). All official documents, such as your passport, ID and driver’s license, are based on the name registered on your birth certificate.
