As Dutch lawyers practicing for many international clients we often received questions about the name change process in The Netherlands. The fact that different authorities are responsible for name change, creates a lot of confusion. Moreover, there is a lack of resources in English explaining the procedures. This lead to people contacting us with their questions, which a Dutch speaker would not have had trouble finding the answers to.

We also noticed that recently naturalised Dutch citizens have various different problems with registering their correct name here in The Netherlands. Not so much name change, as name registration.

We decided that this needs to change. Sabine and Maria have worked on creating a website that is both informative and easy to read on name change and name registration. However, we are lawyers, so we cannot always avoid legal jargon…

To our knowledge Dutch name change is currently the only resource in The Netherlands to provide information on different forms of name change in English.
